Update to Families

Dear Families of Nimi Nikkei Home:

Thank you for looking after yourselves so well and for your ongoing support of all of us at Nimi Nikkei Home. You may have seen on the news that Health Canada has approved the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

We are not sure how Fraser Health will be rolling out the vaccine to you, our beloved residents. However, we have been told it will most likely be sent out to Assisted Living homes in batches or an Outreach Clinic at Nikkei Home. It will also be a quick turn around time once we are given notice that our home is “on the list” to receive the vaccine. To provide you with an example, we have had around 18 staff who have been vaccinated with the 1st dose of the Pfizer vaccine this past week, and we had less than 24 hours notice before receiving the vaccination. We anticipate similar timelines with the Moderna/Pfizer vaccines.

To be prepared, we ask that you take some time to decide IF you would like to be vaccinated. We will be collecting a list of all our residents interested in being vaccinated to be ready when we get the call. Please note that getting vaccinated is NOT mandatory. Should you wish to be vaccinated, please fill in the Consent Form attached. Please return the consent form via email [email protected] re: COVID19 Vaccine Consent form.

This is very exciting for all of us here at Nimi Nikkei Home, it has been a long, hard year and with Health Canada approving two different vaccines to help with our fight against COVID-19, for us, it brings HOPE for a better 2021

As you probably heard, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister Adrian Dix announced a new order effective at 10:00 PM November 7, 2020. These changes have been extended until Jan 8th, 2021. We have reviewed what general information is available. To maintain resident and staff safety, the following changes are put in place effective immediately.

RESIDENT MOVEMENTS – No Changes from the last update. However, we want to continue to encourage social visits.

The following is the initially planned update with NEW or repeating information.

NEW UPDATE about Bed Bug

Inspections into all suites have been completed on Dec 18th, 22nd and 23rd. We have great news to announce that there were no beg bugs in the entire Nimi Nikkei building and suites.

We are open 24 hours a day. Care Team, Screeners, minimal housekeeping, meals, are all on. Business as usual. Administration/Management Office is closed on Dec 25th , Dec 28th and Jan 1st. The care staff have a process to call managers in case of an emergency other than a 911 call.
