Dear Residents and Families,  As Remembrance Day approaches, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge and remember the sacrifices made by our veterans and members of the armed forces. Remembrance Day, observed on Nov 11, is a day to pay our respects to those who have served our country. As the cold  weather continues, we have several changes as the easing of restrictions continues to be advised by Fraser Health Authority.  Here are a few of the easing of changes.  Daily Enhanced Cleaning – Starting Jan 1st, 2023, we no longer have enhanced cleaners daily. Dear Families and Residents,  Happy Halloween! As we approach Oct 31st, we will have a bit of fun around Nimi Nikkei Home with costumes and some treats for the residents. We had a successful Covid Booster/Flu Clinic on Oct 17th. I wanted to thank all the staff and residents for their patience, support and work that needed to be done to put this clinic on for 57 residents in one day.  Dear Residents and Families,  The summer has finally arrived, and we have seen some consistently great weather to enjoy our beautiful scenic terrain. Next week, the forecast calls for above 30 C temperatures for an extended duration. Our leadership team is closely looking at our heat wave protocols that could go into effect. Dear residents and families:  Spring is in full swing, and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom along Southoaks Crescent for the past two weeks. I hope everyone had time to enjoy a scenic walk along the street under the cherry blossom trees. Along with the change in season are many changes to Nikkei Home and the province of BC. The Consul General of Japan is once again hosting a number of our residents to Ohanami-kai Luncheon on April 12, 2022. After 20 years, Hi Genki is leaving the Nimi Nikkei Home. Dear Residents, Families and Friends,  I hope you are well and safe, especially those who may be affected by the recent flooding in Abbotsford/Chilliwack. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. This year has been challenging between the fires, extreme heat and now the floods. In addition, this year is also the 100th anniversary of the poppy, and the Royal Canadian Legion is encouraging all Canadians to mark the anniversary by wearing a poppy. Dear Residents, Families and Friends, We are now well into the fall season, the leaves are changing colour, and the weather and temperature are cooling off. With more rainy days ahead, it means more time inside and bringing out fall sweaters and jackets. Please keep yourself heated, cozy and safe. Updates happening at Nimi Nikkei Home

Dear Residents, Families and Friends, As we have entered the 4th wave with new variants, and the summer is coming to an end. Here are some updates that are happening at Robert Nimi Nikkei Home: 1) Communal Dining experience, we are removing the signs, no cohorts, and no limits to sitting. Dear Families and Friends, As the Delta Variant of Covid-19 continues to circulate in the larger community, we would like to remind everyone to be vigilant. Although Nikkei Home has exceptionally high immunization rates, we must remember that the immune systems of older adults are not as robust as those of younger community members. Studies are showing that even fully vaccinated individuals can spread virus to others. Vulnerable seniors and others with compromised immune systems are at higher risk of illness even when fully vaccinated. Changes to Visitation Guidelines and Single Site Order Effective July 19

Dear Families and Residents, We are pleased to inform you that the BC Ministry of Health and Public Health Office announced it will be easing restrictions in relation to visitation guidelines and single site order, effective July 19, 2021. While we will continue to follow all Public Health guidelines and directives – including hand hygiene, physical distancing and masking – these changes will greatly benefit residents and their family members. Dear Families and Friends, With Dr. Bonnie Henry announcing last week new guidelines to visitation at Long Term and Assisted Living in BC. Nikkei home is working extremely hard in putting in place these changes to ensure the Health and Safety of our residents and staff. Furthermore, our community cases are climbing rapidly, and we must continue to be vigilant in our efforts to work together to keep everyone safe. Dear Families of Nimi Nikkei Home: We are encouraged to hear about the potential loosening of visitation restriction from Dr. Bonnie Henry heading into spring break. Also, BC has begun Phase 2 vaccination rollout and should have 400,000 people immunized by mid-April. Dear Community, Thank you for your kind thoughts and support over the last few weeks. This is a brief update. Our Home continues to operate in a Prevention Phase to promote infection control for COVID-19. All the restrictions from past updates are still in effect. Please consider this a continuation of last week’s update.  If there has been a change it will be indicated as NEW.  Last week we started the delivery of meals to suites.
