Resident Services Update (Feb 15th)

Important Update for Residents and Families – Family Day Weekend and  Office Closure

Dear Residents and Families, 

We hope you will take time with your loved ones as we approach the Family Day long weekend. We wanted to inform you of some important updates and events happening within our community. 

  • Family Day Long Weekend and Office Closure: In observance of Family Day, our administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Feb 19. Please note that our team will not be available on this day, but regular operations will resume on Tuesday, Feb 20. 
  • Fraser Health Tenant Survey: At Nikkei Home, our residents’ comfort, care and connection are top priorities. In support of this work, beginning this month,  we will be partnering with Fraser Health on a resident satisfaction survey. 

This short survey will be made available to residents and families and will cover various program areas. Feedback received will help inform future updates or changes to services to improve residents’ experiences in our care community. 

A Fraser health staff member will be on site administering surveys on Feb 20th  and 21st. You are invited to attend and participate on any of these dates on behalf of your family member. 

If you are unable to attend in person, posters with QR codes linking to the survey will be available at our care community for you to complete at your convenience. Please refer to the FHA poster Assisted Living – Nikkei Home dated Feb 1, 2024.

  • Noto Peninsula Earthquake Charity Event – Feb 17: There are 7 groups of performers from a wide genre scheduled for an appearance. Event details are: 

Date: February 17 (Sat), 2024 
Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Doors open at 6:00 PM) 
Location: Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (Nikkei Centre) 

Admission is by donation, and the community is invited to join in a spirit of solidarity. All the money raised will be handed over to the Consulate General of Japan in Vancouver and will go directly towards the affected communities.

  • Welcome Back Gina Hall: We’re delighted to share that Gina Hall will return from retirement on a temporary basis to support our operations and assist with rent reviews. Her wealth of experience and dedication to our community will enhance our operations and services. Her contact information is [email protected]. ext. 2004 sharing that extension will Marlene Davidson.
