On December 27, 2022, Ruth Coles, President of Nikkei Seniors Health Care & Housing Society, was conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, by Consul General Maruyama. The ceremony was held at his official residence as part of the 2022 Autumn Conferment of Decoration on Foreign Nationals, with fellow Nikkei Place directors and colleagues among those in attendance.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruth is recognized for her contributions to enhancing the welfare of the Japanese Canadian community and promoting friendly relations between Japan and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo this day, you lend your wisdom, ensuring that those who follow in your footsteps are always compassionate, looking at an issue not only the easy way or ‘our way’ but from the people’s perspective. You ask yourself and us questions that we need to look at to have a positive place to start from to get to a positive outcome.
