Student Employment: Countdown 150 STUDENT ACTIVITY WORKER: June 27 to August 27, 2016

Tasks & Responsibilities:  Assist in developing a “Canada 150 Countdown program,” and organizing events and activities to be carried out from July 1, 2016 to July 2017; execute activities involving seniors, countdown for each month, representing Canada, with highlights of the history of seniors in the Japanese Canadian community. The focus of the activity is a walk across Canada through the lives of seniors. The successful candidate will work with the Student Coordinator in identifying, developing, and implementing the activities for seniors in Assisted Living.

This position requires good skills in organization, supervising, team building, and communication. It provides opportunity to develop skills in working with seniors with physical and/ or cognitive disabilities in an Assisted Living setting.

 

Education Requirement:  High School, or Post-Secondary in the fields: Recreational studies, Social Work, and an interest in working with seniors.

 

To be eligible, students must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
